WSET exams at Oslo Wine School

Frequently asked questions about the WSET wine exams

Who organizes and marks my exam papers?

Oslo Wine School is a WSET-approved programme provider. We deliver the educational programmes, manage the course experience, administer the exams, and distribute results to our students.

WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust), based in London, is the awarding body. They develop the exam questions, mark all exam papers, and send the results to us. All queries relating to exam results are handled by WSET through our WSET-approved wine school.

When can I register for my exam?

Once you are registered for a WSET course with us, you will receive an email invitation to register for your exam.

We offer several exam dates, locations, and formats to choose from. If you do not receive the exam timetable after registering for your course, please contact us at kurs@oslowineschool.no and we will send it to you promptly.

What happens if the exam date is no longer suitable for me, if I have to cancel?

If you have registered for an exam and the date is no longer suitable, you may cancel and reschedule.

Exams cancelled more than 15 working days before the exam date will not incur a fee. Exams cancelled fewer than 15 working days prior to the exam will be charged an administration/non-attendance fee. Individual course policies apply.

Please refer to the exam fee table below for details.

What happens if I have extraordinary circumstances?

If you are unable to sit the exam due to extraordinary circumstances, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss rebooking options. However, we cannot guarantee that the exam fee will be waived.

Can I have extra time during the exam due to health issues?

WSET’s policy ensures that no student is disadvantaged during the exam process.

Students with diagnosed medical conditions or disabilities may be eligible for reasonable adjustments, including extra time. You must inform Oslo Wine School at the time of exam registration and provide relevant medical documentation. We will submit the request to WSET in London, who will review and determine whether adjustments can be granted.

Can I take the exam digitally online?

Yes. For WSET Level 1 and Level 2 in Wine, you may choose between a classroom exam or an online exam.

Online exams are administered by a third-party provider appointed by WSET, and therefore an additional exam fee applies. The online registration process is more detailed, and students must ensure that their laptop is compatible with the exam software and that they have a stable internet connection.

Further information about online exam procedures can be found HERE.

Can I take the exam again if I fail?

Yes, if you don´t pass the exam on the first attempt, you may re-sit the exam.  A resit exam fee applies. If you pass but are dissatisfied with your result, it is not possible to retake the exam to improve your grade.
