This is a live, instructor-led wine education course on Zoom. No alcohol is sold or shipped.
Schedule: Five Tuesday evenings, 18:30 - 21:00
Dates: 21, 28 April, 5, 12, 19 May 2026
Location: Live tutoring on Zoom platform, with recordings available if unable to attend a session. Students are sent the link to the course page min. 24 hours before the course starts
Language: This course is taught in English since all the course materials and exam is only available in English. All our teachers can explain terminology in Norwegian if required.
Class size: Maximum 14 students per course
The price includes the official WSET Level 2 in Wine course book and guided educational tastings during the course.
Winelist: After registration, students receive a winelist of the wines used in each session. All wines can be purchased directly through the Vinmonopolet website.
Teaching is delivered by an approved WSET educator at Oslo Wine School.

About WSET Level 2 in Wine
WSET Level 2 in Wine is an internationally recognised qualification designed for students who already have a basic understanding of wine. It is suitable for wine-interested consumers who wish to broaden their knowledge and make more confident wine choices, as well as for those considering or working in the wine trade.
At Oslo Wine School, teaching focuses on clear explanations, discussion, and guided practice in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Our goal is to build confidence and practical tasting skills, helping students feel comfortable talking about wine and choosing wines for a wide range of occasions. Small class sizes ensure personalised attention and meaningful interaction.
What you will learn
WSET Level 2 in Wine focuses on understanding the world’s principal and regionally important grape varieties, the regions where they are grown, and the styles of wine produced. Students will also explore the key factors that influence wine style, quality, and value.
You will learn how to:
- Taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT)
- Identify the principal grape varieties of the world and their typical styles
- Understand how climate, vineyard practices, and winemaking influence wine style and quality
- Recognise the effects of bottle ageing on wine
- Interpret key wine labelling terms and regulations
- Understand production methods and styles of sparkling and fortified wines
- Apply the principles of food and wine pairing, wine storage, and service

About the wine list: Oslo Wine School selects a range of wines suitable for WSET level 2 in Wine students that are available via the Vinmonopolet website. Students are responsible for purchasing the wines themselves for the tasting sessions each week. Approx wine budget 5000 kr. The weekly tastings are structured and guided, and are used as a learning tool to support discussion and understanding.
Exam and certification
The course includes a 60-minute multiple-choice exam of 50 questions. No tasting skills are required to pass level 2 in Wine. We offer various exam dates both as a classroom exam and digital. Course participants may register for any WSET Level 2 in Wine exam on our 2026 exam schedule. Students receive a copy of our exam schedule upon registration. Practical information
Course places are non-refundable, but may be transferred to another person or to alternative course dates by arrangement All courses require a minimum number of participants; in the unlikely event of rescheduling, students will be informed at least 7 working days in advance
